Insurance nightmares
I tell people to read their benefits insurance booklet. At the end of most booklets, there is usually a paragraph stating more information about your policy is online. Translated it means, here is where the fine print is. There is usually critical information about the appeals process. If you are denied payment, contact the insurer ask the customer service why. I usually have the doctor resubmit the claim. Sometimes the codes are wrong or the doctor didn't sign the form. If this is not the case it is important to start the appeals process. The first step is appealing the insurer. If that doesn't work, move up to the State Insurance office. Next is the attorney general's office. The Federal government is last. Most insurance companies are hoping you will give up with the paper work and time needed. If you final be specific with dates amounts and diagnostic codes if you have them. The more detailed and specific you are, the more likely you will get some where.
