Healthcare and Election Politics
Who will deliver the goods for healthcare reform? Will it Obama or McCain? Whoever wins the election will not be able to make any changes unless the insurance industry and pharmaceutical companies sign on. And what is the possibility of that happening. Are the insurance companies unhappy with the system? It is hard to say since the profit margin remains good. I think about what changes I would like to see. I'd like to see the no more HMOs that control who you see. Everyone should have PPO. I think what I would most like to see
is nurse practitioners on equal footing with all insurance companies. I would like for insurance companies to accept nurse practitioners as primary care providers. It doesn't happen unless each state mandates it. I don't know why they don't include nurse practitioners because they pay less to them. What else? Insurance to pay for health and patient advocate. Back to the candidates, McCain wants to put the onus on the middle class worker to pay without bringing down the premiums. Very scary.
