Can Healthcare BE Saved?

Election fever is upon us.  I can't say I am really happy with either plan from the candidates.  Nobody is addressing the burden seniors have with their healthcare.  Yes, there is Medicare but it covers little and every senior HAS to buy a medigap policy.  Depending upon your state, the cost runs from $100-200 or more a month.  The catch is if you don't purchase it when you turn 65 and eligible, you will be penalized 1% per month from the time you turned 65 to the time you sign up!  And this is our beloved law makers giving in to the insurance lobby.  The prescription plan offers some relief only if you take a lot of medication and if you only take generic.  It is laden with benefits for the pharmaceutical industry.  Plan D,as the prescription plan is called, is not covered in the medigap plans.  SO on top of the monthly cost of medigap, there is the cost of the Plan D. AND you have to pay a copay with each prescription.  Now you might think if there is no need for medications then no plan is needed.  WRONG!  If you don't purchase a plan at 65 and five years down the road, you need it, you will be penalized 1% the cost of the plan PER MONTH since you were 65.  Who thought this up?  The other part which most seniors complain about is that after spending around $2,700(depends on the plan), the policy doesn't pay until you have put out of pocket another $1500.  Where do the candidates stand on these issues?  I hear SILENCE!
