AAA membership prescription coverage

I was picking up a prescription today, a specialized cream which my insurance will not pay for.  I pay $60 and stretch it to 2 months use.  At CVS, my new pharmacy, I went to pay and the bill was for $90.  I said to the pharmacy tech that I normally pay $60.  The answer was your insurance is not paying and you paid cash.   Yes, but at another pharmacy across town, I paid $60.  I told her it wasn't right and I needed to speak with someone else.  I was shuffled over to the consultation window.  Here I repeated my complaint.  At first, I was told the same.  Then I was told  pharmacies  cost differ probably because of different wholesalers.  What I knew is that CVS had been cited very recently for overcharging.  Finally, he looked at me and asked me if I was an AAA member.  Apparently, AAA pays some prescription cost when insurance won't pay.   I received 30% off the cost!  Yes, I was pleased.  I am concerned that CVS doesn't post the information or ask if the customer has an AAA membership when insurance won't pay.   AAA rescues you when your car breaks down and as I discovered, when your insurance breaks down.
